What Are Anxiety Disorders?


It’s normal to have some anxiety. You may feel anxious or nervous or worry if you have to tackle any problem at work, take a test or exam, or make an important decision. But anxiety disorders are different. They include symptoms that cause constant and overwhelming fear and anxiety. This excessive anxiety can lead to various behavioral disturbances that will interfere with your daily activities and can make you avoid work, school, and other situations that might trigger or worsen your symptoms

Types of anxiety disorders are –

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder
  • Panic Disorder
  • Phobias (Fear of heights, water, needles, flying, closed spaces etc)
  • Social Anxiety Disorder
  • Separation Anxiety Disorder

  • Experiencing gastrointestinal (GI) problems
  • Having difficulty controlling worry
  • Having the urge to avoid things that trigger anxiety
